Course Description
Course Dates
At the end of the 3-day class, the developer will have covered all of the stages necessary to create a WSP with new functionality integrating to an existing application, that could then be tested and deployed in a hypothetical production environment.

Assumes trainee has expert knowledge of Visual Studio 2008 SP1, ASP.NET 3.5, experience with XML, CSS, MOSS Administration, MS SQL 2005 administration.
Minimum Requirements:
Students will need all day access to an individual desktop computer or laptop for Live Meeting and lab work. Lab work will be performed in an MS HyperV image (provided with the course). Student must be able to download and run the MS HyperV image. The HyperV image will require at least 4GB of memory and 70 GB of free disk space. The HyperV host machine cpu should be core duo or better processor. Faster processor and more memory increase the performance of the HyperV image.

The Lab HyperV image will be made available for download prior to the Course dates. The HyperV image must be installed and running prior to the beginning of the training session.

Day 1:
• Comparison of functionality between MOSS 2007 and SP2010 development. Introduction to IPM implementations of SharePoint 2010 architecture. Review of SharePoint Features and Solutions deployment within the context of Visual Studio 2010. Review of the 14-Hive and deployment locations of artifacts including webparts, layouts pages, ribbons, CSS, javascript files, WCF services. Discussion and exercises will cover Installation and Configuration of the IPM solution on the SP2010 vpc, setting up a development environment, and overview of code-level IPM implementations of SharePoint 2010 architecture.

Day 2:
• Review of SP2010 development strategies. Discussion and exercises will elaborate on the strategies for creating designable webparts, custom content types and lists, feature activations, menus, and custom webpart pages, Modifications to functionality and customization of the look and feel of SharePoint 2010 will be discussed from the point of view of developers who must deploy and manage code within an enterprise environment (development /Test Integration /Production) over the entire life-cycle of an application. Discussions and demonstrations will include the steps necessary to add to or update an existing application without destroying data.

Day 3:
• Review SP2010 service layer functionality in the context of WCF, Site Collection work-flows, JQuery, and the SP2010 Client Object Model. Discussion and exercises will include a step-by-step walk-through of several hypothetical modifications to IPM 2010.
